After shifting from Faridabad, Regional Office Chandigarh started functioning in a rented building in Sector 34 Chandigarh with Sh. R.P. Vashishtha as first Assistant Commissioner on 16.07.81.

Due to shortage of accommodation, the Regional office was shifted to a rented building in sector 20 Chandigarh. In the year 1999 the regional office was shifted in the building of KV O.C.F Sector- 29 Chandigarh and kept functioning there till 13.05.2003.
Present building of KVS (CR) was inaugurated by the then Commissioner, KVS Sh. H.M Caire IAS on 14.05.2003. It is a beautiful four storey building situated on Dakshin Marg (Near Tribune Chowk) Chandigarh. An adequate infrastructure housing the Administrative Branch on the ground floor, Accounts Branch on the First Floor, Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner on the second floor and a well equipped conference hall, library & VIP Guest rooms at the Top floor. The building has been suitably provided with Generator, Air conditioners and Computers.
